Who We Are
VPC Landscape Construction started in 1987 as Valley Plant Care. Originally the founder, Julia Brizendine, started out by doing residential garden design and landscape maintenance.
After years of experience and with the reputation of Valley Plant Care growing, the focus gradually shifted toward construction design and implementation. The business was renamed to ‘VPC Landscape Construction’ (VPC) and it has been known by that name ever since. Today VPC offers expertise in a wide array of services from pruning and tree planting to construction of outdoor living areas.
VPC has also been providing commercial services in the Washington DC Metropolitan area for the last 15 years. Engineers, site planners and general contractors in the area can count on VPC to provide design assistance for meeting buffer zone requirements, the creation of retention ponds and tree inventory to name just a few of the services available.
VPC Landscape Construction has earned a reputation for excellence. With a commitment to continuing education, VPC is always on the cutting edge of the most efficient techniques and best materials in the industry to give their customers the very best there is to offer. Their approach to a project is holistic with environmental issues like water conservation and erosion control at the forefront.
Julia Brizendine, Owner
In 1987, after working her
way through school as a floral designer and obtaining a BS in Botany, Julia Brizendine started her own business doing garden design and maintenance. Julia named her business Valley Plant Care. She apprenticed under Lynn R. Batdorf* who said:
”When asked to refer firms for expert boxwood renovation or maintenance in the northern Virginia area, I unequivocally recommend Julia Jansen (now Julia Brizendine) of Valley Plant Care, who I have professionally trained.“

Our Staff
The staff at VPC are all 
professionals in their field and our key staff members have been working together for over 10 years. Our stone masons are true craftsmen, each with a minimum 12 years of experience. We truly believe that we have one of the finest staffs available in the field of landscape construction in this or any area.
